URGENT Commercial Industry Trying to Remove WDFW Commissioners
« on: January 27, 2017, 05:00:20 PM »
This is not good! Two of the commission's biggest hunting and recreational fishing supportive Commissioners are up for reappointment and some in the commercial fishing industry are trying to block their reappointment.

Miranda Wecker has been reappointed but if the WA Senate votes against her appointment she is gone.

Larry Carpenter's term ended in December and needs to have Governor Inslee reappoint him.

This movement on the commercial side is a direct result of the feud between Oregon DFW and WA DFW where Oregon has gone back on their word to reduce commercial allocation on the Columbia to increase the recreational allocation.

A form letter is on this link which will send a letter to Inslee and a powerful Senate leader to prevent this things from happening: http://nwsportsmanmag.com/editors-blog/effort-mounted-to-head-off-removal-of-2-washington-fish-commissioners/

There is already a person who works for the commercial fishing industry on the commission, if we lose one or both of these commissioners and gain one or two who would be more likely to side with commercials it would be bad news for recreational fishing.

Like bigtex said they both have been very good to hunters and have supported the good changes we've seen.

Obviously the commission is nowhere near perfect but losing these two would NOT be good.

Are these Commissioners supporting the hunting and sport fishing fee increase package?

These two are real friends of the recreational side. Everyone needs to get on board and flood your senator with correspondence. Inslee already tried this last year. If you want the commission to support recs, you need to help keep these two in place.

Why do they want to double the fees that sportsmen pay?

That isn't being driven by these commissioners. They have been pushing for recs to get much more for their money

All policy asks are voted on by the commission, simply asking if they voted yes?

Includes a link to respond to Inslee.

Contact those state congressmen and senators.
